If anyone was watching the World Cup match this morning, I'm sure you're as upset as I am. The U.S. didn't come out strong the first half but they definitely picked it up in the second. The score was tied 2-2 and Edu volleyed off of Donovan's free kick and scored a goal...except the ref's whistle went off before so it didn't count. There was no reason for the ref to blow his whistle on the U.S., as the only apparent fouls in the replay were actually on Slovenia. The game ended in a 2-2 tie due to this horrible call.
The ref's name is
Koman Coulibaly and he's from Mali. He was highly biased in the last
African Cup, and in my opinion ended up giving the final game to Egypt. The African confederation headquarters are located in Cairo, and they decided which referees go to the World Cup. It seems ironic to me that the ref who swayed the outcome of the African cup is the one they send to the World Cup.

I didn't have the chance to catch a U.S. game thus far, but I hope to. I've caught other games and I understand where people are coming from when they say they are boring; I used to think so also. I started to actually watch games and they have became interesting, watching the guys last for 90 solid minutes, the moves they put on to sway a defender, or when one gets a shot on goal. If your lucky enough to witness a goal, you'll know that it is a pretty amazing. Just imagining the crowd and how much it means. I had a friend mention that if the players celebrate like that in any other sport, they'd have a ball coming to plunk him, a hard foul, or a blind side shot coming his way. I've never thought about it like that, but it makes sense. As far as for the U.S. game, seems like that ref needs a free kick to the face as far as replays tell! Seems about as bad as the blow perfect game call.
